Reports suggest that Aamir Khan, who has been the face of Incredible India for many years, has been removed from the post. This move comes a few months after the actor’s ‘intolerance’ comment sparked an outrage across the country.
The Tourism Ministry hasn’t taken kindly to Aamir’s comment in November where he stated that his wife Kiran Rao contemplated leaving India, owing to the “growing disquiet” in the country.
This created a huge furore across all quarters – the actor was slammed on social media and a Shiv Sena leader had even offered a reward of Rs. 1 lakh for slapping him (Shiv Sena leader announces Rs 1 lakh award for slapping Aamir Khan,November 26). However, the actor stuck to his guns and refused to retract his statement (Aamir Khan: I stand by everything I said about intolerance, November 25).
